Latest Andor Image Hints at a Much Darker Tone

A new image for the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series Andor has been released by Total Film, showcasing Cassian Andor prior to becoming the man he was in Rogue One.RELATED: Andor: First Look at New Star Wars Droid B2EMO in Disney+ SeriesThe new image shows Cassian (played by Diego Luna) speaking with a bartender about something. In an interview accompanying the image, Luna talked about the way he’ll play Cassian in the upcoming series, noting that at the time of the series, the character doesn’t realize that he’s capable of changing into the man he becomes in Rogue One.“That talks about a wounded man,” Luna said in the interview. “We find him in a place where he’s not aware of how capable he is of transforming or being part of change or executing such a sacrifice, but he is the man that comes out from fighting since he was six years old. He’s a very interesting, dark, wounded person. Set five years before the events of Rogue One, the series will follow the adventures of the titular hero rebel spy during the formative years of the Rebellion. It will explore tales of espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.The new Star Wars prequel series will also star franchise alums Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Alan Tudyk as Cassian’s droid sidekick K-2SO, who reportedly won’t appear in the first season. It has also been rumored that Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn are reportedly reprising their respective roles as Saw Gerrera and Director Orson Callan Krennic.Additional cast also includes Star Wars newcomers Denise Gough, Stellan Skarsgård, Kyle Soller, and Adria Arjona.RELATED: Andor TV Spot Teases the Beginning of the RebellionAndor is executive produced by showrunner Tony Gilroy, who previously directed the reshoots for Rogue One. Gilroy was originally expected to direct three episodes but was forced to give up the position to Black Mirror‘s Toby Haynes due to pandemic-related travel issues. Production is currently underway in the United Kingdom.The 2016 film was a critical and box-office hit with a gross of over $1 billion worldwide. It starred Luna, Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Riz Ahmed, Forest Whitaker, and Ben Mendelsohn.
