Our Children; Our Leaders
Image via Wikipedia
A part of responsible parenting means guiding our children as they grow and teach them how to become responsible adults. All too often, however, this part of parenting is overwhelmed by working two jobs: putting food on the table and making sure the kids brush their teeth.
That little body sitting in front of the television, perhaps watching a show or playing a video game, could be the next Kazakhstan President or President of the United States. The onus is on the parents to teach their children compassion, forgiveness, patience and understanding.
There is no way that the people of this world are going to escape their bigotry, intolerance and struggle for power unless they are replaced by a generation of adults who seek peace and understanding.
Children learn from the behavior of their parents. Unless you show them how to be compassionate and caring, they will never learn. Unless you discuss how being hurtful can pain another individual, they will never tolerate others. Until you show them that you love your neighbor, no matter their religion or color of skin, then our children will never learn to be accepting of others. Until they learn to share as a child, how will they learn to share power as a ruler?
Finding the time to teach our children these important life lessons can be difficult, but they should not be overlooked. Take the time to teach your children how to be accepting of others and how to be compassionate. Perhaps then, they’ll live in a more peaceful and loving world than our own.
Relationships Are Like Theaters: They Have Stages
Dating is a fun but complicated adventure. First step: meet someone. Whether you do that at a book club or a nightclub is up to you; what matters is that you find common ground.
Once you’ve met someone, then it’s time for dating.
With enough dates you can get to know each other better, at which point you can use that knowledge to begin courting in earnest. That means appealing to the other person’s interest in the activities you propose and the gifts you bring. Once you’ve established a connection, you progress through the stages of healthy relationship.
Excitement – Everything is new and fresh. The couple doesn’t know where things will lead and there’s tension. But is there chemistry?
Acceptance – Eventually both people realize the other has flaws. They have to decide whether the good outweighs the bad.
Trust – Those flaws had better not include lack of trust, because it’s the most important ingredient in the casserole that makes a relationship.
Meet the Family – Intimidated? Meeting each other’s families is scary, but it’s often important to know that your family approves of the person you’re with. This is a major and significant step.
Commitment – This can take many forms. It might be moving in together, or it might be a ring. In any case, it means sacrificing freedom for the sake of devotion.
Adjustment – Get used to the consequences of commitment. It is life-changing – this final stage, which may continue indefinitely, is when people must figure out how to handle the changes. How gracefully they do so determines the success of the relationship.

Is Tolerance Really the Answer?
There’s a lot of talk today about tolerance. Many people believe that the answer to all the world’s problems is if people would just be more tolerant of each other. We all remember the famous quote from Rodney King, the African American who was shown on video tape being beaten by several Los Angeles police officers “can’t we all just get along?” That’s a good question. Is it really possible for us to be tolerant of everybody’s beliefs?
Well, there are definitely some problems with this idea. First of all, what about people who have religious beliefs that are by definition opposed to one another? For example, many Christians believe that Jesus is the only way to God. By definition, that means that people of all other religions are on the road to hell. Is that tolerant? How about Muslims? Many of them also say there is no god but Allah. Some of the radicals are willing to go so far as to blow themselves up and others with them to defend this belief.
If you want to be a peace-loving person that gets along with everyone, how in the world can you “tolerate” a person who wants to see you dead? Likewise, in any civilized society, we have laws and restrictions to keep order. We have laws against killing, stealing, lying under oath, etc. We don’t tolerate any of these activities. Neither should we tolerate someone who is harassing us or physically harming us. This is why we have restraining orders, to protect people from other people who wish to do them harm.
So I guess the real question is-how far is the tolerance supposed to go, and who decides its limitations? If we can agree that tolerance does have limitations (and maybe not everyone would agree on that point), then who do we appoint to decide how tolerant is too tolerant? Maybe we can create a new post over at the UN called “tolerance czar”. Then, this person can set up guidelines so we all know what we are supposed to tolerate.

United Nations Organization
When with expansion of the world powers it arises with the need of the world security as well. So there was a great evolution of the United Nations Organization which has come with the common goal to help all individuals of the world. This was being achieved by making the common laws for all and to make the international security as well.
The need of United Nations Organizations was the development in the economy; to make progress in society; to have the human rights and to get the world peace. This effort of the United Nations Organizations was being made many years back after the world war to up come with the disasters of the wars being aroused by different nations to become a world power.
The formation of this organization helped by maintaining a platform where the persons of each country can come and put their views in front of the whole group and to discuss each and every decision which needs to be taken collectively.
Lately the formation of this united nations organization tend for the uplift the lower parts of the society to cope with the various disasters which they are required to face time to time. So it also formed several organizations which were being supported by the United Nations Organization such that they have the certain work assigned to them.
How to Get Americans More Interested in Current Events
Americans all over the world and of all types of educational and financial backgrounds are surprisingly unaware of their country’s background and history. Consequently, this can be detrimental to a society since having a common knowledge and interest in the roots can help to build unity among residents. In an article published by USA Today in 2008, the statistics on how much people knew about their country were quite surprising: only half of the adults asked could correctly list the branches of government, and just over half knew that Congress has the power to declare war. When asked this question, over one third said that this power was given to the president.
Understanding the history of the country can also help individuals to understand more of what is going on in the current political situation. Many people enjoy learning about and following current politics. However, without knowledge of the history, they cannot fully grasp the system and its many components. Another key aspect to following current affairs and understanding the basis for these systems is that it helps people value their country when they know what it took to get the system to where it is today.
Offering news on all media venues could help to encourage all individuals to partake in current events. There are some applications for mobile phones that provide breaking news updates right to the home screen, which makes it almost impossible to miss. Offering a free newspaper subscription to online or print newspapers can also encourage people to actively stay current on affairs, especially if it doesn’t take much to sign up and receive updates via email. Making sure that all Americans are updated on the world around them can help to promote tolerance of others and also raise awareness of the situations of the many people around them.

Society & Life
A society is basically being used as the collection of people who collectively work for common goals and beliefs and they should have some relations among themselves and have their certain roles as well. The society also depends on the types of persons involved and this is also being observed that they might have their certain territories as well.
The society comprises of certain role of each individual being involved in it. There are certain situations where all the persons are required to complete the task. However, there are variable conditions where in the society persons themselves assign different tasks being assigned to the best possible person present in front of them.
This is also being observed that the society also may depend upon the associations they might have among the individuals present among them and the feeling to have the strong boding among themselves. This interdependence of the people also decides the role of that person into the society as well.
There might be some certain conditions where call it as a society such as the nationality of the person or the culture to which they belong, this also depends largely on the lifestyle of the individual and hierarchy of the individuals as well.
It can also be viewed that like other people of different groups, the society also wants that its individuals should or can achieve or fulfill their goals and wishes which they might not be able to complete by themselves or on their own.
The society people may not have the common view for all the persons into that society but they work collectively and may talk or vote among themselves to come to common point or conclusion. So for a person to live into a society it is very much important to respect and listen to the views of other people present in the society.
Tolerance To Society
The tolerance is the term being used to identify the role and part of the world powers to get their image and effect into the society. The current society has expanded so much in terms of power that it is really tough to understand the role of each individual in a society and to respect their presence into the society.
The current society is so much diversified that it is really very to understand to the after affects and needs arising into the society. And there is a large expansion of the powers among it is really a mater to get worried as the people of one society need to tolerate the others in terms of powers and resources.
With the wide expansion of power among all the society has a huge pressure the persons from each group and trade which is thus resulting into the extensive competition of the people among them.
This might also be possible for the persons of lower society are trying to move to the upward in order to not tolerate the pressure being aroused on them by the others. The expansion of the work and area into the society arises with the challenge to maintain their reputation into the society as well.
Now as the world is moving fast each and every part of the world is tolerating to that of the other to maintain the peace into the society. As to live in the current world this is very much required to have the peace and understanding among all.
This is experienced that there are certain areas in which the persons are looking into the expansion or to make their identity in various areas. But this becomes really tough when the person has to face the situation in front of the person already at a good position in that field.
Social Entrepeneurs Can Change the World

Combining business with helping others is a growing trend for American corporations. They are beginning to understand that they have an obligation to more than just their shareholders and are looking for ways to become a better corporate citizen by giving back to the community. Social entrepreneurship is one of the new buzz words in the industry, and Blake Mycoskie is the poster child.
You may remember Blake Mycoskie for competing on television in “The Amazing Race.” He was able to parlay the fame he achieved on TV into travelling the world. It was during a stop in a small village in Argentina that he discovered a type of shoe unique to that region. These shoes are known as the espadrilles. He decided to bring them back to the States. During his travels, he also came in contact with children around the world who had no shoes for their feet and decided to take up their cause. Mycoskie’s business idea was to donate a pair of shoes to someone in need every time he made a sale.
The company is called Toms Shoes, but there is no Tom. The movement initially was called the Shoes for Tomorrow Project and eventually the name was shortened to Toms. The idea being that when you buy shoes today, Toms will give another pair to someone in need tomorrow. Since Toms shoes started operating on that principle, 400,000 pairs of shoes have been donated.
The 400,000 freeshoes that have been distributed so far have gone to deserving people in 24 different countries including the United States. Needy people in Argentina and China, where Toms Shoes are made, benefit from the program as well. Toms employees and volunteers are invited to go along on shoe drops around the globe to experience the feeling of putting shoes onto the feet of a grateful child who would otherwise have to do without.

Today’s Society Needs Tolerance
What is world peace? If one looks at it objectively it is a situation where each person irrespective of caste, creed, religion, language or geographical location learns to be tolerant with the other person and learns to respect his way of life. Being tolerant or practicing tolerance is easier said than done. It requires lot of practice and courage to do it. Gandhi’s philosophy of non-violence is relevant even today is because it has been built on the foundation of learning to be tolerant.
In spite of the gravest provocation of the British Empire, Gandhi was instrumental in creating a free Indian sub-continent only because he did not believe in fighting bullet with a bullet. Today’s society is full of strives and blood shed because we do not believe in individual peace of mind. Only when we respect ourselves and wish to have internal peace of mind, can we become more accommodative and tolerant with the other people. When we are living in a group, be it a family, a small village or a big city or country, there are bound to be differences in perception. If we develop a character of agreeing to disagree then we are naturally more tolerant this gives a lesser chance for friction and misunderstanding and hence helps promote harmony amongst people.
There are small situations like handling day to day traffic jams . If one tries to find out why it has happened in the first place, we would certainly find out that it is because of our inherent quality of being selfish . A bit of giving on our part would have ensured that the flow of traffic is much smoother. Even in a household disputes between a husband and a wife, parents and their children is essentially born out of the fact that either of them is not being tolerant and accommodative.
The Power of Tolerance
It is easiest to follow the practice the philosophy of “an eye for an eye”. But what is difficult and calls for more courage and guts is being tolerant in the face of extreme provocation. Perhaps the biggest example of tolerance and non-violence is The Mahatma.
They do not realize the fact that violence begets violence and there is no end to this vicious cycle. Practicing tolerance is not only good but it is a more practical and intelligent way of solving problems. There are many ways by which we can start practicing tolerance, as responsible citizens of the world. Remember tolerance is not an inborn trait in people but has to be practiced over a period of time. Man by nature is greedy and selfish and it requires efforts to move out of this self-centered thought process.
We can make small beginnings by learning to be tolerant first with our family members. A husband and wife should develop the culture of give and take and should learn to be tolerant towards each other. Moving a step further, we can learn to be tolerant with our neighbors and friends. Let us not forget that human beings come from different cultures, religious background and different shades of life. Hence there is bound to differences in the way each one approaches and lives life. It would be extremely damaging if all of us start disrespecting and looking down on the others way of life.
This leads to intolerance and manifests itself in violent reactions. If on the other hand, we tried to learn from each others experience in life, we would start respecting humanity in general. This would result in the world becoming a more tolerant place. Being tolerant is not being weak but explains a person as being more accommodative and becoming more inclusive in his or her way of living.
